As I am sure you are aware, that being Coeliac you are able to eat foods which contain 20 parts per million or less of gluten. Obviously we use gluten free flours in our products but as we are a small business and demand is not that high, we do not have the financial capacity to have a kitchen purely dedicated to cooking gluten free welshcaes. We cook literally hundreds of gluten welshcakes on a daily basis. Therefore, whilst we do everything within our power to remove as much flour as possible from our cooking facilities, and as flour can remain airborne for 12-24hrs, we cannot guarantee that all flour is removed in the cleaning process. As a result this raises the possibility that our welshcakes may fall slightly above the 20ppm limit. There are many people for whom this is not a problem, as people are intolerant to different levels of gluten, with Coeliac being the most intolerant. We always say that it is up to you the customer to use your discretion, but having met people who cannot even eat food that has been placed next to gluten, we always err on the side of caution.
What you will probably find is that there are companies out there who specialize in gluten free products. The Welsh Gluten Free company is one who we get our gluten free bead from and I know they also do welshcakes suitable for Coeliacs, https://www.wgfbakeryproducts.co.uk/
Please do not eat our welshcakes if you have a serious food allergy. They are good... but we would not risk our lives for them.
Whilst we do everything in our power to minimise any cross contamination we do have a small kitchen and make every welsh cake by hand. We make many different flavours which collectively may contain the following ingredients: WHEAT, MILK, EGGS, SULPHITES, ALMONDS, COCONUT, SOYA.
