Can you believe this? Our welsh cakes in Lesotho - Southern Africa!
Ysgol Penrhyn Dewi surprised us in February with these heart warming images of students handing over our welsh cakes to the Chief of Mahloenyeng. They’re currently out there as part of a school exchange and took some with them as a gift.
The writing on the box in the second picture says “Nkhono” and means “Grandmother” in Sesotho (the South Sotho language of the Basotho people).
Check out the links below which will take you to heart warming videos on Ysgol Penrhyn Dewi's Facebook page:
1) Students explaining to the Chief of Mahloenyeng, the meaning of MamGu
2) Staff at Mahloenyeng School enjoying their welsh cakes
Diolch yn fawr iawn YPD students. We hope you enjoy the rest of your trip!
… Oh by the way, it’s roughly 5968 miles from St Davids to Magloenyeng! 🤯😂
